Empowering students to explore their full potential and find purpose

At Rosebank, the Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award forms a core role in challenging young people to achieve new skills and experience adventure. This program is offered to students from Year 9.

Involvement fosters personal achievement through individual challenge and presents a balanced, non-competitive program of voluntary activities which encourage personal discovery and growth, self-reliance, perseverance, responsibility for self and service to the community.

The Award is a program of cultural, practical and adventurous activities covering four different areas: Service, Expeditions, Skills and Physical Recreation with the four areas designed to complement each other and provide a balanced program. There is also a fifth section at the Gold Award level - the Residential Project.

Students choose from a wide range of activities which suit their particular interests and abilities. There are three Award levels: Bronze, Silver and Gold.

Within each level, students must select and undertake activities that fit the purpose of each of all the four sections of the Award i.e.: Adventurous Journey, Skill, Service and Physical Recreation.

Students are responsible for organising the Skill, Service and Physical Recreation components of their Award. For the Bronze Award, the Adventurous Journey will be organised through Rosebank College as part of the Year 9 Camp through Camp Somerset.

The Award is fun and the activities you choose reflect your interests and passions. Enjoy the challenge!
